It’s hot and humid but we are getting ready for fall in a big way. Fall classes will start in a few weeks, new yarns are trickling in, including this gorgeous array of Road to China Light from Fibre Company…
…with a big tide due in September, and model sweaters are in the works. Dream in Color’s first Dream Club shipment came in last week with the big reveal yesterday. I got an early start on the project, it’s lovely! (If you’re not a subscriber, you’ll be glad to know that extras of this giant skein of Smooshy are available – in a limited quantity.)
In addition to this, I have embarked on a version of Merle from Brooklyn Tweed.
I’m doing in it in a blue-y, purple-y shade of Debbie Bliss’s Fine Donegal, a tweedy fingering weight that I just love. I don’t know why I decided to make it almost dress length, but that’s what I’m doing. I also made long sleeves, and I may change the neckline as well. So I guess I’m just using the pattern as a starting point. I do like the lace at the yoke, and I like the collar, but I don’t love Henley necklines, so – hmmm…
I really wanted to show customer projects this time, so I’ll just do it, although that means a long, long post.
First, Karen Walter finished this lovely shawl called Damask, in Fino color Corsage. Very beautiful, with nupps,no less!
Mary Morton, who just started knitting again, made these cute items for her grandchildren:
Barb Melcher wore in her finished Temis top. It’s so pretty and matches her eyes!
Sarah Ruppert is busy making beautiful and intricate shawls. Here is her latest:
Janet Kakareka taught the Building Blocks afghan this summer, and for the last class, put all the blocks together to make this really beautiful throw (the picture is bad, but the throw is gorgeous!):
Lenore Peloso was the first to show us a finished and blocked Hitofude from Karen’s knit along this summer. She made her in Fino in color Ivory Letter-opener – wonderful!
Sue Marshall brought in show-and-tell, with all the projects she’s finished this summer. All these are gifts, and a great reason to knit all summer long!
Jettie Hunt’s sister Marie is busy making sweaters for her pooch. Next up is an Aran – he’ll look so smart!
Stephanie Fishkin made this wonderful blanket full of fun stitch work for a new little boy from organic cotton Sprout:
And Anne Nordhoy whipped up this adorable baby set from Mandarin Petite:
Okay, my customer project folder is empty… your mission is to fill it up again. Get busy!!
