Every year at this time, Dream in Color opens sign-ups for their Dream Club.  If you haven’t participated yet, you may not know about it:  September through February, Dream in Color sends a shipment of specially dyed yarn, sometimes from their regular line and sometimes a yarn we’ve never seen before, with an exclusive pattern designed especially for that yarn.

The projects are one-skein and fairly quick to make, and DIC has KAL’s and contests on Ravelry.  It’s a lot of fun.  Last year was the first year we participated and most of the skeins (see above for a couple of examples) were absolutely breathtaking!  Designers for this year are Laura Nelkin, Ann Weaver, Andi Smith, Connie Chang Chinchio, Kristin Omdahl and Amy Loberg – you can check out their designs on Ravelry.  The cost to sign up early is $216 – you get all six months of yarns and patterns, plus an invitation to our get-togethers to get your projects started.  There are 14 spots (I ordered 15, but one is for me!!) so if it sounds like fun to you, be sure to sign up early. Most of the folks who participated last year are going to do so again so you know it was a success.

Meanwhile at the store, cat hugs are piling up!

We’ll have fun decorating the benches outside, with so many hugs to choose from.  Thanks so much to everyone who took the time to make these little rugs.  Once we’re done with the “yarn-bombing,” the Humane Society will have a ton of hugs to give away with their feline adoptees. Well be getting together to pre-assemble next week sometime – stay to tuned to our Facebook page if you’d like to help.

I hope you’ve seen our new line-up of classes. There are so many fun things going on.  Janet’s mitered square class will be lots of fun, and here’s my newest mitered project.

It’s the Montague Street Cowl, an infinity scarf that buttons.  It whips up fast and keep your interest with the different stripe sequences.  It’s fun to pick colors and just the right buttons. You can mix any two worsted-weight yarns.  I mixed DIC Classy with Manos’ Maxima and love the way the colors complement each other. Take Janet’s class and you’ll be ready to start one for yourself!

The piece de resistance this week, however, is Karen’s finished Hitofude, for which we’re having a knit along this summer.  Check out this beauty:

And this shot shows the construction a little better:

I have to say, everyone who has tried this on looks great in it.  The style and drape are very flattering. It takes 2 -3 skeins of Fibre Company’s Meadow, and I’m ordering colors in a week or so for those who don’t find something in stock.  Come in and try it on.  The Knitalong starts July 10.

Donna’s Christmas Stocking class is going to be a lot of fun, too.  I hope to have photos of a couple of her finished stockings next week, they are absolutely charming!

Okay, I must get outside and plant tomato plants before it gets too hot.  My original plants got smooshed by the hail, so I’m a bit late getting things in the ground.  I do love to dig in the dirt!
