…not that kind! We have some new photos of our class projects to show you. Janet finished the model for her reversible cable classes, and it’s just lovely. Beautiful hand-dyed Maxima extra-fine merino, plump cables on the edges, diagonals to show off the color variations – perfect! The first class, technique-only, is August 9. August 23rd is the scarf class. Room in both, but I’m guessing not for long.
Donna’s blocking class, which happens at 1 p.m. on this coming Saturday, still has some spaces. If you’ve never taken the class, you have no idea how much she packs into this demonstration. Proper blocking means a lot to any project, and you’ll have the knowledge and confidence to tackle this crucial step. You can also bring something that needs to be blocked and have Donna help you with specifics for that project.
Donna also brought in some of her finished Christmas stockings (one came all the way from the Southwest so she could show it to you!) Come in to see the models in person, then learn to make these classic heirlooms in her class that starts July 16.
I’m guessing that you all are just getting your summers organized and looking forward to family picnics, weekends at the beach or in the mountains, trips here and there…Well! I spent yesterday morning looking at beautiful fall yarns. And I’ve seen several previews from yarn companies about their fall lines and designs. And oh my goodness, in my life, it’s time to plan for fall already!!
This is such an exciting time of year because looking at all the new yarns, all the new colors in established yarns, and the newest design collections is so inspiring. I confess to being in the knitting doldrums for a few weeks now, with nothing terribly fabulous on my needles. A couple of cowls to mark time and keep my hands busy. We all go through times like that, and don’t we all wonder if we’ll ever really be excited to knit anything else? The answer is yes!! You’re going to love Shibui’s new collections and their newest yarn. Berroco has some beautiful new things coming out soon. Mountain Colors has added several new color ways to our favorite River Twist, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I can’t show you anything because the yarn companies have their own launch dates and retailers are forbidden to reveal anything until then, but I can assure you we’re going to have some fun this fall!
Meanwhile, this is how I feel after I’ve shopped for yarn. Blissed out, don’t you?
