Shhh, Purl Is Sleeping…

…don’t wake her up!  I know I show a lot of pictures of Purl sleeping, but my camera isn’t fast enough to capture her when she’s awake.  She’s in a devilish phase and on a day like today, when I have lots of things to accomplish, she is a roadblock to all my plans.  If she’s awake, I must keep my ears open and investigate every sound that I can’t identify or this is what happens:

This tangle took me an hour and a half to undo (okay, I could have cut it off and thrown it away, but I fell down an obsessive-compulsive hole and couldn’t go to bed until it was untangled.)  Anyway, if she wakes up, this post may never be finished and I do want to show you what Donna accomplished in the last week.  I posted a couple of hats last week from her series of hat classes starting in January, and she blasted through the rest of them!  They’re such beautiful little things and I’m sorry these photos are not the best in the world – it was such a dark and dreary day when I took these pictures.

Last week I showed you these two beauties:

Then she did this cute little Downton-inspired number in Fibre Company’s Road to China Light – look at how the colors glow, even on a dark and rainy day:

This lovely beret was knit with Venezia Worsted wool-silk, to show off the leaf pattern:

And sideways construction with embroidery make this cap a standout in MadTosh Merino Light:

I love the idea for this series because hats are a great way to learn new techniques.  You’ll cover hat basics of course, but in addition, you’ll learn tubular cast-on (all the rage right now!), short rows, charts, lace, cables, provisional cast-on,  kitchener stitch, bottom-up, sideways and center-out construction, and a really cute leaf embellishment.  Plus you’ll have a wardrobe of wonderful hats, or an array of unique gifts to give throughout next year.  Donna will be teaching the series every Friday beginning in late January, from 3:30 – 5 p.m.

We have a bunch of great classes lined up for winter – now all I must do is get the schedule finalized, posted, and so on.  It’s coming this week sometime, I swear!   Meanwhile, I hope you all have a lovely holiday!
