Fingerless mitts are like the appetizers of knitting. They come in all flavors and sizes and can suit any taste. Some are almost a meal, in their intricacy and time spent. Some are just a quick bite of something tasty, like a simple cable on a chunky mitt.
One of the things I love best about fingerless mitts is the plethora of wonderful free patterns for them on Ravelry. Check these out:
Fingering-weight yarn, twisted-rib stitch pattern:
Aran-weight yarn, one simple cable:
Fingering-weight yarn, simple lace pattern (chart plus written instructions):
DK or light worsted yarn, simple eyelets, picot hem:
Doubled laceweight yarn (or single sport-weight), knit flat & seamed, slip-stitch pattern:
Worsted-weight yarn, stranded color work:
Try something new! It’s just an appetizer!
BTW, I apologize for being closed so much last week. What was supposed to be a routine dental cleaning for Purl turned into a major thing, with 12 teeth extracted, stitches, etc. She needed to stay home for a few days and I found that I couldn’t bear to leave her alone. She’s doing great, and I’m slowly recovering, too.
