Our new class schedule is up and I wanted to concentrate on the beautiful shawl that Karen is teaching this season, starting on Saturday, September 19.
Karen knitted this shawl as a mystery knit along (MKAL) that started in the spring. MKAL’s are acts of faith because you don’t know what you’re getting as a finished product. You have to rely on the designer to make a good design and write a good pattern. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but when a great designer like Rosemary Hill (Romi on Ravelry) is involved, your chances of a good outcome are greatly enhanced.
Anyway, Karen made the shawl (beautifully, I might add), and brought it in, and everyone fell in love with it. The design is outstanding. Each section is beautiful in and of itself, and the sections meld into a lovely whole. This is Romi’s version:
She has also added a larger version, which she knit in even lighter-weight yarn, to the final pattern:
Karen used yarn from her excellent stash, but any gorgeous fingering weight would do. I would suggest you take a look at Dream in Color’s Jilly or Jilly with Cashmere, which will arrive this week at the store. This is a project that deserves the best! Color combinations are legion; check out the projects on Ravelry for inspiration.
Class size is limited so if you want to knit this shawl, sign up soon!!
