The girls gave me a weekend off this week and I’ve accomplished so much! The jungle in my back yard has been beaten back, laundry, paperwork and (most of) the housework have been caught up, and this new cowl was knit, blocked and the pattern written. Thanks, guys!
So, these are the colors of Acadia I showed you last week:
I narrowed it down to 4, then as I was knitting, realized 4 were still too many colors. So it became 3 colors, and this is the finished product:
and another shot:
It’s a generous 8″ x 60″ after blocking, and feels so soft and light, yet with the baby alpaca in the mix of fibers, it will keep you warm in the winter. The Crossed Stitch gives it occasional interesting knitting, in between the soothing garter and stockinette stitch. I love Acadia for its rustic-looking texture that is totally belied by its plush, silky smoothness. And the colors! Complex and earthy, you continually notice new aspects while you’re knitting. Almost any combination looks well; here are a few, just from the colors on our shelves left over from last season (I won’t even mention the shipment that will be coming sometime this fall):
The pattern is available now at the store, free with purchase of the yarn to make it.
I had a couple of great projects to show you and Purl’s photo after her first haircut, but something’s wrong – slow, slow, slow! Come in and visit, and don’t miss David’s two great projects posted below.
See you soon…
Trish
