Knitting Marathon

Brrr!  I hope you didn’t succumb to the temptation of 75 degree weather to plant anything delicate.  It’s  a lovely chilly morning, a great change from last week.  I don’t care what the weather does, as long as it changes frequently.  Or, put another way,  I love any kind of weather as long as it doesn’t last too long.  It’s one of the joys of living on the East Coast, I think, that we get all kinds of weather in a year.  I for one hope it stays that way!

I feel chatty today but really don’t have much to say.  I had a knitting marathon yesterday.  After I finished the paperwork for the store, caught up on laundry, ran all over creation doing errands and weeded the back yard, I sat down around 3 p.m. with a new audiobook and didn’t get up (except to feed the boys and make a salad for dinner) until 2:30 a.m.!  I really just wanted to knit – not think about how to change a pattern, not do anything tricky, not try out this and that or experiment with a new yarn.  I dug in my stash and found some old Hayfield yarn (from before I opened the store) and am making a basic, couldn’t-be-plainer top-down stockinette stitch cardy.  Got the entire body done yesterday, just sleeves and edgings to do.

I thoroughly enjoyed it – what an indulgence!

I hope you all saw David’s wonderful Snowshoe Aran (we’re hoping he will team teach this with Donna toward the fall) and Natalie Bischof’s beautiful Cobblestone pullover made for her husband.  There is also a post about some free software for designing Icelandic yoke sweaters – I clicked on the links and they seem legit so I let it stand. Would love to have more posts from my wonderful customers – it’s easy, and heaven knows you’ve got to be better photographers than I am!

Janice Bieber made this great summer poncho in a variety of yarns for her trip to San Antonio to see her daughter and son-in-law.  Here she is with Stephanie and Andrew, looking all summery, out by the pool:

Doesn’t she look fabu?  Great job!

This is the Sycamore Vest I finished last week in Araucania Ruca.  I love how it turned out, just as I envisioned it.  Soft, light, loose and swingy, a little bit boho:

I was going to use a red-brown colorway, but this blue really got to me.  Then I saw Pantone’s fall color forecast and saw that this was spot-on with their “Olympian Blue”.  Is that why?  Am I just so fashion-forward?  Nah.  It’s just pretty.

Selena Horning finished this beautiful pair of socks just in time to start another pair on a visit to her daughter in Seattle.  Didn’t they turn out well?  She worked very hard to make them perfect!

And here, just because I’m always rattling on about all the dogs in our family and because you haven’t seen these girls since they were tiny, are Gracie (right) and Lily.  Lily’s current nickname is “The Piranha” so I gather we’re having some chewing issues!

Enjoy the day!  See you soon…
