Bleary

I’m going bug-eyed from the computer – I’m working on the new class schedule (it’s a good one!) and enough is enough.  I was thinking of blathering on about about summer yarns (really, how else are you going to get lightweight clothes that don’t feel like slinky crap? Excuse the language, but really, yuck.  Who wants to wear clingy oil-based products in the heat? Find cotton and linen and silk in the department stores. You’ll faint at the prices, and it’s made in China, for Pete’s sake.) and why the experience can be a very rewarding one but I’ll spare you (pretty much, excuse the mini-rant) and get right to these wonderful projects:

Deb Hawk finished her Mirkwood – it’s absolutely gorgeous!  Look at the color, look at the stitchwork, it’s just wonderful on her:

Jennifer Gensemer wins the prize for being the first to finish her Tech Square afghan. (Really there is no prize, except bragging rights.)  Isn’t this an amazing work of art? Beautifully done!

Diane and Kristin Ruth did mother-daughter bonding in Donna’s Fair-Isle Yoke Sweater class, and both brought in their finished sweaters to model.  I love the way, even though it’s the same pattern, it looks completely unique depending on colors chosen. Terrific job, ladies!

I have great pictures of some of the class projects but don’t want to spoil the surprise – I hope to have the whole shebang done by this weekend – keep your fingers crossed for me.  I’ll let you in on this, though – Karen Walter just finished this sweater – it’s a gorgeous piece, absolutely to die for, and you’re going to want one (and if you don’t, you could at least make one for me!)  It’s a fascinating piece to knit, with almost no finishing, and I have to show you how great it looks on her:

The answer is yes, you can make the sleeves longer (first question any short-sleeved sweater gets; we’re all so self-conscious these days, for no good reason.) Stay tuned!  See you soon…
