…for trees to bud and open, for the ground to open up and let our garden spades in, for open-toed shoe weather, for open-window weather, for the world to open up again – in other words, for spring to finally get serious, darn it – I’ve been finishing some things up. My second Hawser is finished, with the knit-along almost over. A pattern I’ve been working on is in the finishing stages, with photos and schematic still to do and the yarn due to arrive in the next week or so. Socks – done. Cowl – done.
Here’s my new Hawser, a version with a turtleneck, just for something different. I love it and I loved working with this sunny color of Nature Spun during the deepest, darkest days of winter:
At least three others are finished with their sweaters and many are on the home stretch. I’m hoping we can get together some time in April to model our Hawsers and get a group shot.
Here are my pretty socks made from a great colorway of Jawoll, pretty enough to cheer me up:
Janet’s sock class just finished up and I don’t think she’s ever had a more enthusiastic batch of sock knitters. Everyone had a great time and made beautiful socks!
I’ll wait to show you the new design until the pattern is ready and yarn is on hand. Meanwhile, Shibui’s new yarn, Twig, arrived in eight gorgeous shades:
Linen, silk and a smooch of wool make an interesting tweedy combination.
I’ve only had a chance to swatch with it, and after blocking, the fabric drapes well and will make a cool and comfortable summer sweater. I have in mind to make Bevel, a new Shibui design in two colors of Twig:
It’s a versatile piece for summer. I just wonder, though, if I wouldn’t like it better and wear it more in one color? Or am I just being boring? I have to let it percolate a little while longer!
I hope you got my email about the new hours for spring and summer: 11 – 6 Wednesday – Friday, and 11 – 4 on Saturdays. I hope this will give me enough time to get a few things done around the house, which has been ignored for – well, for pretty much ever. My promise to myself is not to let the extra time be absorbed by the business. We’ll see if I can keep that promise!
