Karen Walter just finished her Light Trails sweater and wore it in – it’s so pretty on her:
The shape is easy without being too much fabric, and the neckline, a modified boat, is so flattering and perfect for jewelry. I love the way the cables are a detail instead of the main event, but they really make the whole design something out of the ordinary. They trail down the shoulder and onto the sleeve where they gradually disappear:
I’m a big fan of simple shapes and fabrics with one or two special features that make them worth knitting, and this design does that. Karen’s advanced-beginner-level class, which starts late in April, still has some spaces left!
A few weeks ago, I blathered on about big wrappy scarves and showed you one that I had in process. It’s finished and it’s lovely, if I do say so myself. This is Multigrain:
Soft, light, warm, fluffy, it used 6 skeins of Shibui yarns in various textures and neutrals, with one of those 6 skeins in one of my favorite colors. The yarns are mixed and doubled throughout, so when you’re bored with one combination, you can throw in something else. You have to come in to touch it to see just how luxurious it is! It’s not a fast project, but it’s easy and totally pleasurable the whole way through.
I can’t write much today – the dogs must go to the vet (getting shots today – shhhh!), so I’ll just say that many new summer yarns have arrived, with cottons, linens, hemp, and other summery fibers on the shelves in beautiful colors now. We have lots of inspiring projects for you to try on and plenty of other ideas to perk up your wardrobe and have something uniquely yours to wear this summer. And I’m absolutely sure it will someday be summer, even if old man winter seems to want to stay forever. Can you believe it’s the end of March and still freezing cold with snow on the way?
Never mind. I’m an optimist – I’m scheduling a pedicure! Sandal season’s just around the corner, right???
