Not that it isn’t still hot and muggy but at least there’s light at the end of the sweaty old tunnel. For all the good intentions I had for this last long weekend, I mostly sat in the coolest part of the house and knit (or napped). I also finished Gone Girl, which was fairly weird. It was a slog because I pretty much hated everyone in it and wanted them all to die by the end. If I’m going to read for pleasure, I want someone to root for – the good guys, a heroine, an underdog – I don’t mind which, just so there’s someone I care about.
Now I’m ready for fall to start and to get the official knitting season going! I showed you the pretty Stimulus Package yarn last week, and Donna, in her post-surgical haze, still was able to knit this simple but gorgeous shawl from her favorite colorway:
Deb Hawk was a good sport again and modeled this pretty scarf in Lacey, a ruffling “yarn” that can be used in a lot of ways. This is my favorite fluffy scarf so far, even though it’s a little overwhelming for Deb. It’s soft and pretty and could actually keep your neck warm if you needed it to.
Stacy, who is Nadine Lyons’ daughter and I’m ashamed to say I’ve forgotten her last name, is into cowls at the moment, and modeled this Diagonality cowl that she made from (yum!) Debbie Bliss’ Paloma:
We’ll be spending the week getting the shop set up for all the new yarns that have come in and are going to be arriving throughout the next 6 weeks. We got some very yummy Grignasco Champagne, a sportweight blend of extrafine merino and mulberry silk this past week – I love it! – as well as a new supply of Galway, our go-to traditional worsted-weight wool. Noro’s Mossa (do you remember Blossom? Here it is again, under a new name, still colorful, texture-full, and fun) came in. More from Plymouth, Berroco, Cascade, Crystal Palace, Swedish Yarn (a beautiful alpaca-silk fingering weight that I can’t wait to get – what will we make from it??), Manos, Classic Elite, Mountain Colors and much more will be hitting the doors this month. As always, I have no idea where I’m going to put everything, and, as always, we’ll find a place for it all.
Come and see!
Trish
