A couple of months ago, I wrote about my ex-husband and his gradual succumbing to cancer. Well, he died in hospice a few days ago, and I wanted to thank everyone who sympathized with us and expressed concern. He had a talent for making and keeping friends, as shown by the visits and calls from all over the world during his last weeks. I miss him every five minutes, but I’m glad he’s out of it all now.

On to happier things!

These two talented knitters finished their versions of the project I abandoned a few weeks ago, and they are lovely!! Here’s Jettie Hunt’s finished “Twenty Four Birds”:

And here is Karen Walter’s beautiful result:

Do I regret? Nope. Mine still would have been eye-searingly ugly and would have looked even worse compared to these beauties!

We got in two colorways of a new Noro yarn this week, called Kompeito. It’s a pretty sport weight made of silk, cotton and nylon. The link will take you to some projects on Ravelry.

I haven’t had a chance to work with it yet, but I think it will become a smooth and light summer top or a one-ball baby sweater at some point, although it might combine very well with a complementary lace mohair to make a nice trans-seasonal cardy.

I showed you Meg Roke’s pretty beret called Afterglow last time and I couldn’t resist casting on. I used a combination of yarns to make a fuzzy yet sturdy hat. I love the way it turned out:

Meg’s patterns are great: clear and concise, yet helpful without being overly-wordy. And she sent me a new pattern called Leaving Lupines, a bandana-style cowl that uses just one ball of Wonderland’s “Tweed,” a silky hand-dyed blend that cries out to be around your neck. That’s def on my agenda too (but I just started a cotton sweater that I want to keep focusing on for a bit so I’m trying not to get distracted.)

Showing you other finished projects for our wonderful customers:

Kathie Holm won the blue ribbon for her beautiful jade Hydrangea scarf, made with love for a friend in Road to China Lace:

Jeanne Gochenauer finished her lovely Seaway pullover in Berroco’s Mistico – so pretty in pink!

Nikki Schower made this striking pullover in Rustic Aran from Ella Rae – sorry, don’t know the pattern’s name:

Najma Iqbal finished this pretty vest (and I made her model it over her striped t-shirt – sorry!):

And last, but hardly least, Karen Walter made this gorgeous shawl to wear to a wedding. The color was inspired by the clutch and shoes. Unbelievably wonderful, just look at that border!!

Well, I’m going back to my prosaic pullover. I should be pushing myself for a new class schedule for the summer, but I’m feeling a little lazy and just want to knit today. Hope you get in some good knitting time too!
