Well, it’s been more than a month since my last post (why do I feel like I should have started “Bless me, Father”?) Anyway, I miss writing and would like to know why it’s so easy to get caught up in things that you don’t enjoy at the expense of things you do. I think, “I’ll write a post this morning” and then the dryer buzzes, or I remember that I haven’t put food out for the stray cat the neighborhood is taking care of this winter, or I notice I’m almost out of coffee (!!) and have to order today, and then the morning is gone and I still haven’t taken a shower, and I really have to get to the grocery store today. You know how that goes.

I have been knitting, though! I started a scrap blanket with leftovers from the Morning Rituals class we held a couple years ago. There were one or two balls of every color left over from the projects and they all looked nice together and I had a lot of light gray (still my favorite non-color, although I think warmer tones are coming back into fashion) (as are greens, finally, by the way). Anyway I’m striping them for this free pattern from Plymouth:

I’m making it huge so I don’t have any more leftovers, and the stitch patterns are mostly fun to do. Although some are pretty fussy, you only have to do them for so many rows and then you’re on to something else.

I sent a pair of socks to my ex and he seems pretty happy with them. Sent me a picture of how they match his shoelaces, asked me how to wash them. I think he deserves another pair, don’t you? Now I just need to remember how many stitches I cast on (lots) and how long I made the foot (long). I’m going to use this nice Regia colorway, I think:

I also finished all the class models I wanted to make. I loved “Smookie” as soon as I saw it and even though Karen was going to teach the class, I wanted to do the model because it looked like fun to knit and a great project for Patagonia, which I love to work with, and lots of stitchwork which is right up my alley.

I finished all the hats I’m going to teach and had fun with them all. I also finished a couple other projects that I was toying with teaching but decided not to in favor of including a basic crochet class, which folks have been asking for. So I really had to brush up a little on my crochet because I haven’t done much in the last 20 (another !!) years. I’m enjoying getting my skills back, though, even if my elbow and shoulder (why?) are letting me know that crochet will always be for small projects in my case. However, if you’re into crochet, you really should see this article so you know where it could lead! It’s a cautionary tale, really.

BTW, Deb Cech is adding this cute project to the class schedule.

On Saturday, Feb 11, she’s going to lead a knit along on this adorable headband. We’re going to do kits for the yarn and pattern, so the price of the event is $35 INCLUDING materials (except needles.) It’s going to be a fun and quick Valentine’s Day project; hope you’ll come along for it! And her Sille Slipover class has one or two more spaces, a really good learning project for advanced beginners, a beautiful finished garment, and no sleeves to finish at the end! Who could ask for more?

Our winter classes!

Well, sorry, it’s been so long. I’m glad I started this post when I did because people are starting to email me is everything all right? so I know it’s been a while. Come see us and all the beautiful yarn and projects, and say hi. I wonder about you all, too, you know, and am glad when you just check in now and then!
