…for cheering me up during a spell of rotten weather. We got a shipment from Manos del Uruguay last week, and it was like a party in a cardboard box.
That candy-pink speckle bunch just makes me smile, and the new multi-colors are intense and wonderful. I have all the colors of Juniper Moon’s new Moonshine Fine coming in this week.
You probably already have used Moonshine in its worsted-weight form. This new fingering-weight version is just as lovely. I’ll have to see if Karen will search for a perfect project for a combination of these yarns.
I finished the kimono in Summer Sesame and love the way it turned out..
You can see how light the fabric is (at the back of the neck) so it’s a great summer layer, which I’m going to need because the pandemic pounds I’ve packed on over the last year aren’t going away any time soon! This is a free pattern with purchase of yarn, a lot of easy knitting and a hopeful spring-ish thing to work on while we’re all wishing this creepy snow would get the heck out of here.
While I was taking a rest from big projects, I decided to update another of our free patterns, the Beaded Rib Beanie. It’s a good way to use up a random ball of yarn, with instructions for fingering, DK, or worsted-weight. It’s a nice little hat that can be tucked in your pocket if it gets too warm, and if you weave in your ends carefully, it’s reversible.
Smooth side:
or bumpy side:
I used left-over Patagonia, a sport-weight organic merino, but it really would look fine in almost any yarn you have lying around.
The store will be closed next week for Purl’s eye surgery and recuperation. Wish us luck that some of her sight comes back and that she can literally see her friends again!
