Too Much to Talk About

When there’s too much to write about, I get stymied. How to organize, what can be left out to keep a reasonable length, what does the store need me to talk about as opposed to what’s on my own knitting mind? Sometimes you just have to start and see what comes onto the page.

First, look at these cute Uppsala slippers Karen made me for my birthday – with pom-poms! This was a class she gave last winter, and I loved them a lot, so she surprised me with them. Cute, cute cute!

Jolly little slippers!

Next, an update on the little cat who appeared at the shop a few weeks ago.

After several days of posting, waiting and checking that no one reported her missing, a wonderful customer adopted her. Her vet visit revealed that she wasn’t chipped, she is healthy, about a year old, and it didn’t take a vet to tell us that she’s the sweetest little girl ever. She has happily settled in and is busily engaged in charming everyone around her to pieces.

Learning to knit! Don’t we all feel like this sometimes?

Happy ending!

I hope you have checked out the classes for fall; I’m so pleased with the schedule because there’s something for everyone. Karen’s Butterfly shawl class is full (no surprise there), and the Big Love cardigan class is almost full. The small project classes and the Cranberry Capelet class still have room. The capelet is still on Deb’s needles and will make a good learning experience for advanced beginner knitters. The small projects are simply adorable, and you should check them out at the shop.

Meanwhile, there is some beautiful new yarn coming into the store. I just love this time of year! We received beautiful new, rich colors of wool/silk Rustic Aran:

which many people are using for the Big Love class. I like the yarn so much I’m using it to make another Essential Sweater Dress,

since mine is getting pretty shabby looking after all these years of feeding chickens and slopping hogs. Oh, wait, that’s not me! Anyway, I love the Rustic Aran; it’s a real workhorse, sturdy, good for stitchwork, stable, and nice to knit.

Everyone loved Ito from Noro last year – those big beautiful 400+ yard balls of Kureyon, just full of potential! We have three new colors:

and a new book of beautiful Noro blankets to give you some colorful ideas:

And Manos sent us some new Feliz, their washable DK, in their original hand-dyed color ways and their new semi-solids, which really must be seen in person to be appreciated.

This yarn has beautiful sheen and drape so it’s wonderful for shawls, but I’d like to find the perfect simple pullover that would look good in subtle stripes of solid and multi. I’ll be searching!!

Okay, I haven’t even told you about anything I’ve been knitting lately, but that’s enough for one day, don’t you think?
