…I should post every week: I have too much to say today and can’t organize my thoughts in any coherent way. I suppose I’d better plunge right in!
First, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I did, with lots of knitting and an audiobook, hanging out with Jack and Purl, followed by a luscious dinner with friends. A perfect day, and I hope you had your own version.
Second, tomorrow is Small Business Saturday and, even though I don’t think we should encourage overspending at Christmas (why am I in retail again??), I do hope that if you have presents to buy, you’ll check out your local shops, especially those in West Reading, for unique ideas and personalized service.
And I hope you’ll stop by our shop, too, and pick up gifts for other knitters or for yourself. We’ve got plenty of good ideas, including these beautiful cone/ball holders and tool holders from Wool Tree Mill in California:
and fun little notions cases/change purses from Frabjous Fibers (made in Nepal):
and beautiful yarn bowls from Pawley Studios in Kentucky:
There is still plenty of time to knit something special, and to sign up for our last-minute classes next week. There is room in each class – choose your favorite or drop in for all three. Clockwise from left: Tuesday’s That Nice Stitch Cowl, Wednesday’s Last-Minute Mittlets, and Friday’s Chevron Cowl. All classes start at 12:15 pm and cost $30 plus materials. We used some of our favorite yarns: Manos’ Maxima, Swans Island Natural Colors Merino Bulky, and Fibre Company’s Road to China Light. Yum!
We also just received a bunch of pre-packaged multi-skein packs from Frabjous Fibers, with related tones chosen for those interesting projects that take several colors. These “Cheshire Cat” packs contain five 1-ounce skeins of fingering weight superwash merino for a total of 640 yards. Just briefly looking through Ravelry, we found several fun things.
