Miss Me?

We had a lovely vacation…didn’t do much different from normal, just spread it out a little bit.  My niece’s wedding was just wonderful and beautiful and it was great seeing all the relatives that I normally avoid – why do I do that?  It’s always fun to see them.  Purl and Jack went to the kennel – er, I mean spa – for a couple days, then Purl had her first visit to the beauty parlor.  They did minimum cutting so that she didn’t freak out, but they did trim around her face so instead of this:

she now looks like this:

Now she looks like a spaniel!  It’s like that muzzle just popped out all of a sudden.  She’s getting more reliable with the housetraining, and we’re working on walking on a leash.  That’s tough, though, because she wants to be out front, large and in charge, so it’s like walking a small, furry tank that’s set on drive.  The good news is that she won’t put up with Jack stopping to pee on everything that sticks up out of the ground.  She must drag us both and it’s very, very hard work.

I’ve ordered some lovely yarns for fall and to make room for them, am having a sale on any yarn that contains cotton, linen, or bamboo. If you didn’t get the email, check to see that I’ve got your current email address and that “info@yarngal.com” is in your address book so it doesn’t get bounced. The sale lasts through the end of July, but if you have a favorite, don’t wait too long.  20% off is a good deal, and you can get another 10% off the sale price with a full Frequent Buyer card.

By the way, our drawing winners ($25 gift certificate!) for April and May were Heather Christie, Mary Ellen Leidy, Brenda Makuch, and Peggy Scott. We’ll be drawing for June this week – good luck!

I got a little knitting done over vacation but not as much as I wanted to.  I’ve been drifting a little bit, but will soon have to get in the swing to get some new models done for fall.  New designs, new yarn – yay!

Anne Nordhoy has certainly been knitting this summer.  She made this beautiful sweater using Fiber Company Acadia and Pure Silk (a discontinued yarn from Debbie Bliss) and incorporated a subtle rose motif at the neckline.  It’s lovely!

And then just for fun she whipped up this great tee in Mandarin Petite cottonin no time, enjoying following a pattern instead of designing her own:

Wonderful color for her, isn’t it?

Sheila Yarus also designed her sweater, a cap-sleeve top with cables and openwork, in bright white Sprout from Classic Elite:

It’s adorable.  We have such talented customers!

Have a great 4th!
