Almost Over (The Election, I Mean)

Tomorrow we can do the dance of joy, no matter who wins the election, that at least it’s over for a while and we don’t have to listen to all the ugly ads anymore.  I really couldn’t even turn on the TV this past week except to listen to the weather and turn it right back off.  It’s all so needlessly ugly.

But in knitting land, everything is lovely!  That’s why I like to live there.  I have wonderful photos to show you, first of some new shop models, worn by two of our very sweet customers:

First is Doric, a simple jacket knit from EcoCloud from Cascade, so it’s soft yet structured, warm but not heavy, modeled by Virginia Griffith.  A cozy rolled collar keeps the lines simple and the back of your neck warm, and side shaping keeps the look feminine.

Deb Hawk is wearing Chambord, a yummy-feeling pullover in Blackstone Tweed.  The generous cowl neck is shaped so that it drapes well and doesn’t fall off the shoulder, and the cable work is on the front only, so the knitting is interesting but not a slog.  The construction is top down with no seams, with a strong twisted rib at the bottom that doesn’t draw in but gives a good vertical line.

Thanks, Deb and Virginia, for being good sports and beautiful models!

Here is one more project I just finished (and am halfway through another, it was so quick and fun):

This is the Ribbed Infinity Scarf, very simple new free pattern, taking 2 skeins of Noro “Mossa” and size 10.5 circulars.  Nice to wear as a loop or doubled as a cowl, and we have stunning colors in this yarn. (And of course, it’s 10% off for the month of November, as is any yarn used in a model scarf or cowl in the store.)

Okay! Now for beautiful customer projects!

Diane Taylor-Raring bought a stunning colorway of Manos Maxima a couple weeks ago to make Nanook.  Diane travels a lot and likes small projects that she can carry along, but she dove headfirst into this sweater and here it is, already!  I love the back details – the beautiful collar and the radial increases:

And the front is so flattering!  Even unblocked, it falls beautifully and looks great on Diane.

Nanook has been one of our favorite styles this year and here is Donna Hain’s version, blocked and looking unique because of the yarn choice: a solid pumpkin color of Cloud from Cascade.  Again a beautiful fit and a lovely back view, too!

Lynda Slovitsky finished her Dahlia Cardigan in the deepest richest shade of purple.  It drapes so well in Nuna, a wool/silk/bamboo blend that subtly reflects light and enhances every detail of the back panel:

Pretty sweater, nice fit, a little lace on the cuff, great color – now she turns around and POW!

WOW!

Great sweaters, everyone, you should be so proud!

Elaine Vardjan has made several of our mitered market bags now, and I begged her to bring this one in so I could see it in her neutral colorway.  I love it!

Martha Van Kouwenberg, who knit fluffy, sparkly little ballerina tutus for her granddaughters a while ago, used leftovers to make little Phoebe Mouse with a matching outfit:

How sweet is that?

And two finished Mosaic Felted Bags from Janet’s recent class:

Here is Tedi Roberts’ version in soft and pretty lavender tweed:

And Marci Frey’s bright green version:

Nice jobs!

And next time you visit, be sure to look up and notice our beautiful new sign.  Our lovely customer and friend Janice Bieber is not only talented at knitting!  She did a beautiful design, and the company she works for, Sign-A-Rama, got it done in no time.  Janice, the whole process was a pleasure, thanks to you!

Nice, huh?  Love the yarn ball!!!  If we ever get some sun, it’ll look even more fabulous!

See you soon…
