Good heavens, it’s been over a month since I last wrote! My old computer just wasn’t handling many of the updates for software and everything was getting very glitchy, so I took it to Double Click on Penn Avenue. I can’t recommend them highly enough if you have anything Apple. They transferred everything seamlessly to a new desktop, and I’m just taking it out for a spin right now!

I’ll be catching up with emails this weekend too. I’m good at ignoring email at the best of times, and to have an excuse not to pay attention was a little too tempting. I may just start from scratch so if I don’t respond to something, don’t take it personally. The thought of wading through that many emails is just overwhelming.

I wish I could have written more about our classes. It’s a great schedule, and some classes have filled up despite the lack of details. We still have room in the Cable & Eyelet Scarf class next Sunday,

which is a fun way to try cables and some basic lace techniques. And there is still room for a couple more intrepid people to learn stranded knitting in our Peaks Cowl class in March:

Both projects are made from lovely soft and washable merino, so you (or someone) will love having them around your neck.

However, once the schedule was set, I’ve been busy trying out new yarns for spring. One that Karen and I both immediately liked was Soft Lino, which is mostly linen but has some cotton that softens and smooths things, and is quite nice to knit. I’m using a wooden needle instead of my favorite Addis for the pattern I’m doing because the yarn is a bit slick, and the pattern a bit tricky, with big cables and dropped stitches, but I’m having a wonderful time doing it, and isn’t the color gorgeous? I’ve been looking at wintry colors too long and I needed something hot and spicy!!

And here’s my Guenevere cardigan, which might fit me or might fit an elephant.

It seems amazingly huge right now, but I’m hoping that everything will make more sense once there’s some shaping at the top. But we knitters are ever hopeful, no? Even when the evidence of our own eyes is telling us that this thing is a pup tent, not a sweater. Maybe a bath robe? At least it’s cozy to have on my lap in January!

Okay, I’m going to bite the bullet and deal with my email backlog. I’ll write again soon!
