New Yarn!

I saw Plymouth’s sales rep last week and just had to give myself (and possibly you) a little treat.  I’ve been disciplined about not buying too much yarn this spring, and I didn’t overdo it, but new yarn is always fun.

So I got us a little bit of new sock yarn called Forever, 75% wool/25% nylon, machine washable, made in Italy, and comes in small balls so you can work on two socks at a time without winding your big skein into two, or if you knit for someone with extra-big feet, you can buy 3 small balls instead of two big skeins, or if you just want a little baby hat, you can buy just one.  Nice soft colors as you can see here, so you could do a pattern stitch and have it noticed.  Best news?  It’s $6 a ball!

And since there always seems to be room in my heart for another fingering-weight yarn, no mater how many mega-miles of it there are in the shop, I also bought a few colors of Linaza, a new yarn made in Peru.  It’s 440 yards and has the softness of alpaca, the unique texture and rusticity of linen, and the shine and drape of Tencel. These are the colors that arrived already:

I’m excited about knitting with it and since I’ve decided to put some beads in stock, (they should be here this week – more fun!) I thought I’d look for something to combine the two.  There are a million shawls out there, but I thought something simple to complement my lazy summer mood.  How about the Jeweled Cowl designed by Sachiko Uemura, a free pattern on Ravelry, with over 2000 projects to look at?

and think it’s going to be a lot of fun.  Looking for an easy summer project?  Come in this week and start your cowl with me!

Don’t forget that our classes are unavailable on the website for the time being and only detailed on our blog here.  Or just come in to see all the pretty things we’re making this summer!
