…or as I should call it, a day of wasting time! What pure luxury it is to have a day that is not devoted to paperwork, household chores and errands, or being at the shop! Since I’m a secret Type A person, the fact that my taxes are not yet in order is nagging at me, but I’ve managed to put that in the background for now and dedicate an hour or two to devising a way to turn an old sweater of mine into a new sweater for Purl. She and Jack are getting haircuts today and it’s going to cold, cold, cold. Jack has a new sweater but Purl is still being stuffed into last year’s.

Looking a bit ratty, yes?
So I had an old sweater that had been washed so many times that it was already a little felted and a little too small for me. I cut it into pieces and felted it some more, and I think this is the way it will go together. The problem, of course, is that I’m not a sewer so I could totally mess this up, even though it seems to me it will take very little seaming to make into a perfectly serviceable dog coat.
If I mess it up, I’ll just knit her another one. Not creative, but at least I know what I’m doing there!
Otherwise, I’m cruising on my Hawser, mostly keeping up with the other knit-alongers. I love the color!
To keep it from being exactly the same as the first one I knit, I’m doing it on one size smaller needle, which will slim down the fit a little, and making a turtleneck instead of a crew. I’m excited to see how it all comes out!
I’m also knitting a spring cardigan, almost done, and looking forward to seeing Shibui’s newest yarn, called Twig, which will ship this week and be here next week sometime. I’ve been working on a few small projects as well, and finished this pretty thing, called Scottish Reel by Anne Hansen.
It’s a lovely infinity scarf that is done in a soft and silky alpaca blend that is cozy and smooth against your skin. It’s so much fun to knit because the stitch pattern changes every few inches:
It’s sizable enough to be worn as a little shawl if your shoulders need an extra layer.
I made it with an accent color on the edges, but of course it would be beautiful in just one shade.
That’s what I’ve been up to. How about you?
