Once again my lovely customers are bailing me out! I haven’t made any decent progress on anything this week, but I still have wonderful projects to show you.
Last week was a low-energy week for me for whatever reason, and I felt like both my brain, my body, and my knitting were only plodding along. I made a little progress on my Seacoast so that it currently looks like this:
…most of the way through the yoke. And I’m working on a fussy scarf in Bloom, a truly lovely little lace weight yak/silk blend. It’s one of those eyes-on-me projects that must be done in quiet and uninterrupted blocks of time, so I’m being disciplined and dedicating one hour per day to it, which gives me half a pattern repeat and about an inch and a half of progress on the scarf. Sometimes that’s all the knitting time I have so I have little to show for my day. Here’s a fragment – yes, it’s a bright coral red, are we sensing a theme here?
It doesn’t look like much right now, but with most lace projects you just have to have faith that it will be beautiful after blocking, right?
Anyway, thanks to you all, I do have good projects to show!
Nikki Schouer made Vodka Gimlet in this perfect shade of yellow Meriboo. Great color for her and the bamboo in the fiber mix shows off the textures.
Sarah Ruppert has fallen in love with making shawls and brought in three to show us:
This is Geology, knit in Swans Island Merino Fingering, a soft organic merino. I have a pile coming I hope in August, and you really must try this yarn, such a satisfyingly honest fiber to knit:
This is Shaelyn, knit from a lovely oyster-white shade of Nuna, wool/silk/bamboo from Mirasol:
And I don’t know the pattern for this shawl but I know it’s knit from the Brass Button shade of Manos’ Fino wool & silk, one of our absolute favorites and due here next month in many colors.
All just very lovely!
Jettie Hunt worked so hard on perfecting this beautiful man’s sweater (Hugo from Brooklyn Tweed). Note the split collar (sans buttons at this point) which is a neat feature. I upped the contrast so you could appreciate the stitchwork:
And here it is, a perfect fit, on her friend Jean-Jacques, hand-delivered to him in France by Jettie’s husband Michael:
A gift that will last, a wonderful job of knitting and another beautiful red project!
Speaking of red, Meg Roke won our two skeins of Moonshine in the color I’m using for Seacoast. She had a very yarn-y week, what with this little batch plus yarn for a couple of commissioned designs showing up at her door. Check our her blog, it’s fun!
Off to the grocery store, then home for some serious knitting today. See you soon!
