Yes, still having fun with lots of scarves. Here is Janet’s latest, a beautiful new feather-and-fan in ice-blue Miski, soft, fuzzy, warm baby llama. It makes a great first lace project, and Janet has added a class this fall if you’d love to make this project. See the end of the post for the new classes!
Here is the crazy big thing I started last week:
Really punches up a plain jacket, doesn’t it? A strand of Souffle with a strand of Freedom wool, in garter stitch, on size 35 needles. Done in 2 hours and ready to wear!
And I finished Oak Park, a scarf from Laura Aylor, who does very interesting and architectural scarves and shawls. Five colors of Road to China Light (or any sportweight yarn), with colors distributed to use them efficiently. Use scraps if you have nice colors, or come in for the most luxurious yarn you can imagine:
And that’s all I accomplished this week! I started a birthday scarf for my sister, and Chambord, a nice top-down sweater with a manageable cable panel in the front and easy knitting everywhere else, in Blackstone Tweed, another perennial favorite of mine, but have nothing to the point to show you. We saw some wonderful WIPs this week so we’ll have a lot of projects to show soon. Nancy Baker sent this gorgeous photo of her two Eight-Hour (she calls them Eight-Week) baby blankets. They’re wonderful!
Don’t they look happy on that fence? Like free-range baby blankets!
I expect I’ll get an email out soon, but we’ve added a couple classes to our roster this fall:
Beginning Knitting, Wednesdays from 5 – 6:30 p.m., 4 sessions $60, Nov. 7, 14, 28 and Dec. 5.
Cable Scarf, one session, Sunday, Nov. 18, 12 – 1:30 p.m. $25
Feather and Fan Scarf, one session, Sunday, Dec. 2, 12 – 1:30 $25
See you soon!
Trish
