I Love A Rainy Day…

…as long as I don’t have to go out in it.  It’s a perfect day off to me, a great excuse to stay home, snuggle on the couch with Jackson while I knit and listen to a trashy suspense thriller or mystery.  Right now I’m listening to a David Baldacci thing – chapters that are 3 or 4 pages long to give you the feeling that things are moving at a quick pace.  I’m knitting this jacket from Brooklyn Tweed’s latest collection – it’s just for me!  I’m doing it in a tweedy brown shade of Royal Llama Silk that will go with everything, and it’s knit densely, so it will be a great dog-walking jacket for chilly mornings.

Thinking of dogs (which I usually am), there are two little female cockers up for adoption, one at the Humane Society and one at Animal Rescue League.  I’m tempted but I think it’s too soon for me.  Jackson and I are still adjusting to life without Geordie.  But maybe there’s someone out there who has been thinking about how lovely life would be with a sweet little cocker?

I finished the Honey cowl that I spoke about last week.  The color is so great and the Maxima is squishy and soft:

I also finished Emelie, a nice little cardigan.  I made a small size, but the pattern is wonderful – it comes in a huge size range and in three different lengths – very versatile.  And thanks to Donna for sewing on all these darn little buttons!

Karen Wenrich made this sweet Trail Jacket (from Knitbot Essentials) in black Dove and we dressed it up with leopard-print buttons (again thanks to Donna).  I love it!  Very 60’s chic.

And Karen Walter finished this super double-knit leopard-print cowl – it’s just great!  You can see both sides in this photo. (Doesn’t it look nice with the Snowshow Aran?)  The cowl class is filled, but if you’d like to learn the technique, we’re taking names and will add another session if there’s enough interest.

I’m excited to show you these great customer projects (I’m so proud of our customers, you just don’t know!):

First, Janis Edwards was thoughtful enough to send this wonderful photo of herself at the beach in her newly-finished Breezy Big Easy.  She literally finished it in the car on her way to the beach:

A perfect photo – are we jealous yet?

Marilyn Seiders finished her Scalene shawl/scarf.  She did a great job knitting it, but thought it was too small.  Donna blocked it for her, and voila!  it’s perfect!

Nancy Baker took Janet’s sock class and made both these pairs of socks (one for her, one for her husband, a size 14 foot) from 2 balls of Step.  We’ll be getting new colors of Step next month:

And Marci Frey is making the cutest little beaded baby moccasins.  She got the first one finished and I had to get a picture:

Colorwork, beads, and a lot of concentration – all for this tiny little concoction.  And totally worth it!

Our Berroco shipment arrived this week – Souffle came in, for our Allspice class, and beautiful colors of Blackstone Tweed, and more Lang Donegal, a lovely, truly made in Ireland tweed in sport/DK weight, and some Remix, a tweed that contains no wool, only an interesting mix of recycled fibers that is nice for traditional sweaters, and is machine-washable as well.  Another shipment from Cascade arrived, with new colors of Kid Seta, Magnum, and Cloud, as well as Heritage Silk Paints, handpainted fingering suitable for socks and lovely for lightweight sweaters and shawls.  This week:  Dream in Color!

Classes start this coming weekend: Beginning knitting, Beginning crochet, and Mosaic tote bag.  If you’ve been on the fence, time to jump off and jump in!

See you soon…
