Life keeps moving us along, even with great sadness. The rest of the world doesn’t stop, events happen, and we get a little distance from sorrow. Geordie was such a sweet little guy, who loved food, walks, and people and got a lot of all of that during the 13 years that I knew him. The last 4 years, when he came to the shop with me, were especially great for him because he got to know all of you. Thanks to everyone who posted comments, sent emails and cards, brougth comfort food, and made donations in his name to the Animal Rescue League or Humane Society. He was a rescued dog par excellence and we’ll miss him for a long time.
I must say that I’ve been knitting away all week without accomplishing a thing. Comfort knitting is what I’d call it. I’m working on a little funnel-neck pullover from Knitbot in Serena in a pretty shade of light raspberry, and it’s just knitting around and around and around on size 4 needles. Something to keep the hands busy while the mind is processing sudden loss. Now I’m ready to be done with it, but there’s still a lot more knitting to do. So I’m putting it aside for a few days to try to finish up a few other things – I’ll take it with me when I visit my sister this weekend. No use trying to knit anything complicated with two young and exuberant golden retrievers to play with! I’m going Saturday, so Janet will be on her own in the shop. She’ll be busy!
I’ve seen some very nice projects in the last week or two. Christiana Brimosingh took Janet’s cabled mitts class and fell in love with cables. She has made several pairs of the mitts – these are her latest:
and then went on to do this beautiful hat, covered with cables:
Very impressive!
Karla Renninger is deeply in love with socks, and is getting better and better at them all the time. Here is the first of a beautifully complex pair in Zauberball:
Nadine Lyon worked all these lovely afghan blocks in record time. Donna Guthrie did a beautiful job of putting the blocks together and edging the finished afghan:
And Patty Golembiewski finished her Dahlia cardigan, in a wonderful shade of blue in Grignasco’s Mousse. After a rather tricky start to the motif on the back, Patty took off on the project – it’s lightweight, drapey, and very flattering:
So, we’re working on fall classes – I’m afraid I’ve been the holdup on finalizing the schedule, but we should have things pretty well nailed down in another week or so. Stay tuned!
Trish
