I haven’t met her yet! I picked her out on the breeder’s website, but since I can’t get away, my sister is meeting her and confirming that she has the personality to happily meet lots of people, because of course I want her to love coming to the store. I won’t know what to name her until I meet her, which will be anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks, depending on work and the weather, but if you have a favorite name, we’re taking suggestions at the store. Drop a name into the jar and if I decide to use that name, you’ll win a gift certificate! We could name her after a great knitting person – Alice (Starmore), Barbara (Walker), Elizabeth (Zimmerman), or Freda (my grandmother who taught me to knit).
Meanwhile, I’m trying to think of all the things I’ll need for a tiny puppy. Puppy food, puppy-safe toys, weenie little bowls, a tiny harness and leash, gates, playpens, crates. I can’t wait! (Remind me of this when I’m whining about getting up in the middle of the night to take her outside.)
I’m trying to clear my decks (house and knitting both) a bit in anticipation, so that I don’t have a million projects hanging fire when she comes. I just finished “Catalpa”
in an evergreen shade of Berroco’s Remix.
I’m on the home stretch with “Enter” from Norah Gaughan’s newest collection
in a jade/turquoise shade of Berroco’s Maya.
And I’m in the middle of “Brock”
from Gudrun Johnston’s new book Knit with Me. I’m knitting it in Canopy Fingering in a shade called Laguna, which is an awesome green with rose and amber undertones. All these green projects must be finished soon – I need to look at another color!
Have you seen the Knitty surprise additions yet? For those who took the double-knitting class, there is a seasonally-appropriate double-knit cowl that was just added, if you can contemplate another double-knit project already:
Carla Frazer finished this wonderful cabled turtleneck in cozy Peruvia Quick just in time to wear during that frigid weather!
Yuko Lewandowski became fascinated with entrelac this past year – this is one of the sweaters she made using that technique. Isn’t it awesome?
Sheila Yarus whipped up this version of the Yeti Pullover in a subtle colorway of Noro’s Kogarashi:
I love how all these sweaters fit so well and are beautifully accessorized!
Babies were lucky this week. Beth Blair finished knitting this cute topdown baby sweater in washable Ella Rae Lace Merino Chunky:
Virginia Griffith made this little hoodie in a wonderful colorway of washable Liberty Wool Print. Sorry for the dreadful clutter in the photo – busy day at the table!
And Christa Hass made the Ruched Baby Blanket in this soft blue. Lots of baby boys on the way, I’d say.
Okay, it’s time to walk Jackson. Poor boy, he has no idea what’s in store for him. Our lives will be shaken up, for sure!
See you soon…
