I’m happy to be able to say that we have an amazing stock of fingering weight yarns right now, considering supply problems around the world. I read an interesting explanation for this problem involving those big containers that everything is shipped in these days. I won’t go into it but this problem isn’t going away tomorrow. But our shelves are full of wonderful color and I’ve dithered for a couple of weeks now about what to do with this bounty. There are a million shawls in my Ravelry Favorites folder, but I couldn’t settle.
Then Karen suggested that we make Romi’s Spring 2021 Mystery Shawl. Romi (Rosemary Hill) is a great shawl designer, and her newest mystery knit-along involves two somewhat related but contrasting skeins of fingering weight yarn. Perfect for what I’m looking for. I’ve already begun to play with colors:
As you can tell, I’m yearning for something rich with color and pizzazz but there are plenty of more subtle combinations to be made. If you’re interested, you can sign up on the Ravelry page above (be sure to read about her different price points for this pattern.) The first clue won’t be released until April 9, so you have time to finish up whatever you’re working on now. Come in to choose your colors, keeping in mind that we know nothing more than you do about what the shawl will look like at the end, although her designs almost always involve some lace. Don’t worry! We’re here to help and she is doing some YouTubeLive videos as well. Should be interesting and fun.
Some other things popped in the door this week. A few new colors of Remix, a worsted blend of recycled fibers (cotton, linen, synthetics) for transitional garments of any kind:
And new Berroco Sox colors for some fun socks:
Right now, I’m working on Western Rose by Thea Colman that features a mosaic design on the body:
Here’s mine in progress, dark-on-light instead of her light-on-dark:
Almost done with the fun part!
