Well, I was pretty whiny last week and I apologize, but once I got it off my chest, I made a lot of progress and finished the little pile of hell. Now, I say finished, but I still have to weave in the ends and block it, but that must wait until I can bear to look at it again.
Meanwhile, I finished a couple of small projects that were on hold until I could free myself from the bonds of skinny yarn and tiny needles.
This is Albuquerque Sunset by Casapinka,
which, in the colors I chose, looks more like Twilight at the Lagoon or something equally subdued. I used a new yarn I’m getting soon (note to self: get a handle on the spring order deliveries) called Feliz from Manos, a softly hand-dyed DK-weight blend of superwash wool and Tencel, plus a yarn from stash. It’s a pretty straightforward asymmetrical shawl with stripes and slip stitches to keep you awake.
And this was my antidote to the long slog of the cardigan:
It’s Newkirk, an entrelac cowl made from one ball of Noro’s Ito. I have just 2 colors of this yarn, which basically is Kureyon in huge 400-yard balls. It’s colorful, woolly, and fun to make. Sometimes a gal just needs a bit of wool in her hands to make everything all right. Now I think I can continue to plan for spring and summer projects and am just embarking on a new sweater. Let’s see how far I get until I start b**ching about this one!
BTW, the water is back on at the shop, and I’m sorry if anyone was inconvenienced by my closing early a couple days last week. Between the cold and the lack of bathroom facilities, it was more than I could take.
And just for fun, here is sweet old Jackson stuffing himself into a basket nest I made for Purl so she could keep an eye on the front door while staying warm. He was having none of that and appropriated it at once!
