It’s May, already, and we’re having a beautiful day. I’m watching the little birds landing on the birdbath, cautiously checking the area for threats, hopping into the hedge, then finally back to the water for a drink and a flutter-bath.
Well, I have something to confess! I very seldom abandon projects but I finally have thrown away the mystery shawl I was working on – ripping out – working on – ripping out – working on. (And yes, I mean thrown away. I was afraid if I only ripped it out, I would be tempted to work on it AGAIN. I hate to give up.)
Why did I toss the project? There were lots of reasons but the final blow came when I realized that the colors that I chose (wish I could blame someone else), when knitted into a circular shawl, would look like nothing other than a gigantic veggie pizza.
I love veggie pizzas, but I have never suffered from the slightest desire to wear one.
In disgust, I’ve been working on a long-neglected plain topdown raglan in Smooshy with Cashmere, which has been my fill-in project for about a year and a half now. It’s finished (not blocked so I won’t show it yet.) So I need a new project, which is always wonderful. I think this will be a period of small projects for me because I haven’t yet seen any new fall yarns, plus the weather will be getting warmer and small projects are very appealing in warm weather. Some I’m thinking about from my Ravelry favorites:
Snow Fern Fingerless Mitts by Kalurah Hudson:
Afterglow Beret by Meg Roke
Clifton Granny Cowl by Janine Myska (crochet)
And these may not be exactly small projects, but they feed my seeming desire to do a lot of garter stitch in many different colors:
One to Three wrap by Marion Bulin:
Next in Line Wrap by Bonnie Sennott:
Karen Wenrich made it in five colors of Yakima, and it’s stunning.
I have more customer projects to show you but it’s enough already, yes? Next time!
