It’s Tuesday and what a lovely weekend I’ve had. The weather was spectacular, we started a new class (this cute hood), I finally put the tomato plants to rest, Purl got a bath and a haircut, I had blood drawn, voted, paid bills, got groceries, and just generally did everything I was supposed to do. It’s a great feeling. There is nothing left on my to-do list, so I finally have a clear field to write a little post to you all. It’s tough to write when there are a lot of things nagging at you to get them done, although part of that is my own fault because I’m practically incapable of procrastinating. If some chore has to be done, I’d just as soon do it now and be done with it.
I’ve finished two projects over the last week, and that feels really good, too. One is this nice cardigan from Brooklyn Tweed. I think I showed you the back which was all I had done last time. I’ve always liked the design but time, yarn, and the will to make something in pieces never came together before. But they have now, and Eco-Tweed Chunky, a sturdy washable wool, was the right yarn for the job.
The cardigan is textured all over, so it’s a bit heavy, and seaming will keep it in shape. And even though I find seaming with mattress stitch to be a revelation in finishing knits, the set-in sleeves were still a challenge. Anyway, I’m glad I did it, don’t want to get too rusty on seaming, but now I want to make something delicate, fussy and luxurious.
But first I have to show you this pretty shawl. I made it in record time because the pattern is pretty simple and good for TV-watching (the new season of Annika is fantastic, BTW) and the subtle color-changing yarn with its subdued metallic highlights just draws you along.
I bought a limited quantity in these two beautiful colors, just to add some sparkle to your winter. They’re so pretty!
And Dream in Color has sent us another winning Pop-Up Club colorway in Smooshy Cashmere:
Teal, navy, copper, powder blue, with hints of purple, just gorgeous. I played:
That solid navy in Moonshine Fine is the perfect foil for the Smooshy, subtle and lovely in any two-color shawl, and the copper/Smooshy combo is a bolder choice.
And I don’t think I’ve shown you this nice scarf, which is a new free pattern (with purchase) that takes 2 – 3 balls of Juniper Moon Farm’s Big Merino, a soft, smooth, washable merino wool. Fun and quick and loads of colors!
