This is an intense time of year in the yarn biz. You wouldn’t think so to see the shop in July, because it’s hot and people aren’t really inspired to knit. But if you’re a yarn shop owner, this is the time of year that final decisions about fall have to be made, so you have to be part accountant, part seer, and part yarn fanatic (got that last one covered.)

I’ve seen a lot of yarn from a lot of different companies, and I’ve ordered a LOT, and now I have to review all those orders, be sure I love the yarns, haven’t ordered the same basic thing three times, determine as well as can be expected what people will like and want to buy, research to see what I would want to make as models, and finally, see whether the store can afford all of it (or any of it.) Ship dates have to be re-thought, with fingers crossed that distributors will actually have the stock when I need it. Supply chain issues are still a thing although much improved, but now we can throw in the possibility of a UPS strike. And meanwhile, the store looks like a yarn bomb went off, while I still try out this and that:

I’m kinda into fuzzy and/or chunky this year. And loads of fun sock yarn, as always. And new colors of our old standbys, and some beautiful hand-dyes, and…it all starts soon!

Meanwhile, I finished the sweater and matching hood, blocked it, came out beautifully, took it to show my class on Sunday and completely forgot to take photos. Next time!
