Nearly the end of May! Who has all their flowers planted and their yards all cleaned up?

Okay, I hate you.

Whew, had to get that off my chest right away. I’m too far behind to catch up so I’m just going to resent people who are on top of things. My goal is to have my tomatoes planted, mulch spread, weeds whacked, and hedges trimmed by the end of the month, and we shall see how that goes.

Meanwhile I’m knitting away like I don’t have anything else to do. Here’s my next pattern resurrected from the archives, which is a pretty lofty name for the tattered and dusty folders that I’ve been going through. I named it “Textured Cowl” for good reason:

There are lots of different stitches – garter, stockinette, seed, plus a couple different types of slip stitch patterns, so it’s never boring. I’ve made this cowl in several different yarns over the years, and in many lengths and heights. This version is about 12″ tall and about 25″ around, which makes a cozy cylinder that you can nestle down into on those cold days, and it will seal any cold spots in your coat neckline, too.

Here’s a little beauty shot:

Isn’t it pretty? This time I made it in 2 balls of Mochi, a soft and lightweight alpaca blend from Berroco, and I think you could get 2 cowls this size out of three balls. You are starting to contemplate Christmas presents, aren’t you? All right, all right, don’t get all het up; yes, it’s a bit early to be thinking about that. Anyway, we have Mochi in all these great colors:

The model is made in that pale blue right in the middle. Mochi is suitable for many kinds of projects, including sweaters. I’d like to have a Napa in it but since I have 3 already, it seems just a bit indulgent.

Here’s the Napa (in another yarn):

Wouldn’t this look great in the fuzzy teal above?

Berroco has their own ideas, of course. Here are some of them:

So you can guess what the Yarn of the Week is going to be, right? Mochi is usually $14.50 a ball, but for a limited time it will be 25% off – $10.75!

Just a heads-up, BTW. It’s a few weeks away, but Art on the Avenue will be on Saturday, June 17th, and I won’t be open that day or the week following. No, I’m not going anywhere. I never go anywhere. I’ll probably still be spreading mulch and trimming hedges and trying to revive my miserable unplanted tomatoes!
