Will this nightmare never end??!! The blanket from you-know-where:
I’m so tired of this big, fluffy thing and every new pattern requires counting, counting, counting. If I was a quitter, I’d make the rest of it in stockinette, but I’m on the last half (finally!) and I’m going to finish! However, like every knitter ever born, I reserve the right to complain bitterly while I do so.
So, being tired of fluff and humongousness as I am, I finally started my summer cardigan in this lovely sunny citron color of Sonata:
It would be even sunnier if the day weren’t so gray, but even so, it’s a great antidote to purple fluff. This is the cardy (shown in wool):
I like the little bit of lace framed by garter stitch on the body, and the lace on the sleeves. It’s top down and in one-piece, with short-row set-in sleeves that are a bit different from all the drop shoulder styles we’ve been doing lately. For summer, I think I’ll make the bands a bit narrower and the buttonholes smaller, so I can use small buttons and keep the overall look lighter. We’ll see how it goes!
We’ll soon be starting to put our spring class schedule together. We’ve had a request for a lace shawl, and it’s been a long time since we’ve done real lace. There are so many beautiful shawls to make, and I particularly love this one:
It’s challenging – all charted, no written directions – but there’s nothing like a piece like this for wearing with anything, from casual to ultra-dressy, plus it keeps your neck warm in winter and your shoulders covered in overly air-conditioned restaurants. Maybe we’ll start with a simpler design as an appetizer this spring, then go to the real thing in the summer so your shawl will be ready when cool days come along again. Anyone up for the challenge? Or do your own Ravelry search and tell me what you love!
