A Rainy Walk with Purl…

…followed by a hot cup of coffee and a chat with you all, and I’ve got a perfect morning. First, I wanted to say thanks. I just closed out the month of September, and I’m happy to say that the store had its best month since the beginning of the pandemic. We’re not 100% yet, but the trend is cheering, and it’s all because of you, our wonderful customers and friends. Thanks for supporting the store through the worst possible times. I feel so very fortunate.

Just a heads up, if you were interested in the Lucky Mitts class. Deb worked one up and didn’t like the way it came out so she has changed the project for the class. It’s for the better, I think. The new project is Timber from Tin Can Knits, and the mitts are lovely.

If you’ve signed up for the class already and bought the supplies for the old design, come in and we’ll do an exchange, since the gauge changed considerably.

Okay, now on to the fun stuff – New Yarn!

Poema Nuance is a 100% wool yarn in DK weight spun in an exciting array of colors. 650 yards in a big, beautiful ball:

I couldn’t resist using the autumn-y colorway for this pretty and cozy Brookhill shawl:

It’s a perfect layering piece for this time of year. And I like how the lace motif interrupts the striping. This type of asymmetrical shawl allows the colors to develop naturally. Here’s a closeup:

Ella Rae introduced a chunky version of one of my favorite yarns, Eco Tweed. Here are the chunky colors available now:

The colors are basic, as were the colors for the lighter weight when it was introduced, but the tweed is pretty and soft (and machine washable). It’s perfect for Deb’s cabled headband class, any chunky hat, and of course, any chunky sweater. Karen is thinking of making a super-cute jacket in it. More to come on that!

Regular Eco-Tweed, which knits up beautifully at a DK gauge, or even a light-worsted, is now available in really brilliant colors, and I got all of them:

We’re also nicely re-stocked on the more basic colors from previous years. Deb is using this yarn for the model of the Timber mitts (above) and I’m knitting Bibbe (absolute miles of stockinette!) in that wonderful deep royal blue.

Well, I’ve got to face the rain and get some errands done today. Hope you’re cozy at home, with a hot cup of something yummy and a beautiful project to work on!
