Funny how time flies when you’re having a pandemic. As I’ve looked around at the shop this month and moved things here and there, trying to make room for new fall yarns, I suddenly remembered that, when this happened in the past, I held a sale. We haven’t had one in at least two years, I think. Anyway, I’m putting all yarns that have any cotton in them on sale for 20% off the regular price, so all our wonderful summer yarns and a few fall blends that contain cotton are all going to be great bargains now through August 31. Berroco’s Summer Sesame and Modern Cotton, Noro’s latest Uchiwa, Ella Rae’s Eco-Organic Cotton, and many, many more. Plus everything in the sale closet or bargain bin is an extra 20% off the sale price through the end of August. Beautiful new things are beginning to show up at the front door, and I need room!
Meanwhile, our summer classes have been wrapping up. Wonderful versions of Cedar Pullover are being finished up, just in time for fall wearing, and Deb’s Sock Camp has been a roaring success – so many adorable socks! (By the way, CoBaSi, a nice stretchy cotton-blend sock yarn, is also going on sale, folks!) We are busy trying to get our fall schedule set. Karen and I have sweaters on our list, and I’m thinking of doing a basic crochet class (crochet is very trendy right now). Deb has about seventy-gazillion ideas and is trying to narrow it down just a bit. I expect the list to be out within a week or so; we’ll send an email.
I’ve been knitting, despite the puky-hot weather. I made a chunky sweater in a fun new yarn, then, sadly, shrunk it to toddler size so had to make it again. Even my gentle washer’s hand wash cycle was too much for it, and it was my fault because did I wash my swatch to test it? No, I did not. I finished a pair of socks. Did I take a picture? No, I did not. Does my brain work very well when it’s 90+ degrees every day for weeks on end? No, it does not. It goes on vacation like any sensible brain would.
We did get a bit of new yarn in already, though, which just makes me so happy, especially in August when it seems that we haven’t had anything new to play with for a long time. Mini-Maiden, an absolutely beautiful fingering weight blend of wool and silk, came in just when I needed some inspiration.
There are a lot of pretty 2- or 3-color combinations you can make, just with these 10 color ways. You can see the lovely silky sheen here:
It’s wonderful for texture, as you can see from the start of my mystery shawl (Casapinka’s Sharon Air MKAL). I had colors all picked out from stash and promptly changed my mind when these lovely things came in the door.
And, sock knitters, we received a lovely selection of Regia sock yarn in their Winter Hues collection. I do love these muted colors – I see BIL socks in one of the blues. Only problem: which one??
Hope to see you during the sale, and do look out for the new class schedule, coming soon, I promise!
