…and spring yarns are also trickling in. Some companies have done well with their supply chains and others have not managed things well at all. I imagine that if you were a yarn distributor trying to keep your inventory down and relying on the worldwide shipping system to get your yarn just in time, you have been royally screwed this year, as have your customers (me, for instance.) I’m glad that I buy from lots of people, but there are still some lines that I love that have not been up to the challenge at all. And who knows what the tragedy in Ukraine will do to disrupt trade and shipping, although that seems like an exceedingly crass and picayune thing to worry about when those poor people are having their country and their lives destroyed by one creepy megalomaniac. One man is causing all of it. How can this be?
All right, I will try to talk about knitting. We do have some very pretty new yarns for spring already, all from Berroco. First up is Spree, a wool/cotton yarn featuring little spots of color blended in a pleasing way:
I just finished a little summer top in Spree, very nice to knit with, and when it’s blocked, I’ll tell you more!
Here is Summer Sesame, a couple new colors and favorites from last year:
I’m looking at the color ways on both ends to think about a new Groovy shawl, just cannot decide yet!
I just finished this little wear-everywhere sweater in Remix Light:
It’s called Soft Trails by Carol Feller, just a nice little top to throw on and get the heck out of the house. We have a beautiful array of colors in Remix Light (the pretty spring green above is also back in stock):
We have nice supply of standard favorites such as Modern Cotton, in both DK and light worsted weights:
This yarn is wonderful for showing off stitch patterns, and for lovely drape. And all the above yarns except Spree are machine washable, a major plus for summer sweaters.
Our winter class schedule is winding down – thanks to everyone who participated, it has been so much fun to be with enthusiastic knitters again! We’re making our plans for next season, with some small projects and some easy travel-ready things to take along with you. (Fingers crossed for all you optimists who are making plans.) But don’t worry, there will be challenges as well. Karen has a beauty of a lace shawl planned, and Deb is working on a great easy sweater that you’ll wear all summer – promise! I as always am the indecisive one. With so many yarns and so many patterns, I just can’t make up my mind. I’ll buckle down, I promise!
