A Pretty Tee

For several weeks, I had this combo on my table at home, staring at me:

At the time, I wasn’t sure what this yarn wanted to be, but I had a few ideas. One was to make a simple wrap, striping the two yarns, but I was not wanting to make something so easy even though I thought it would be very pretty. (Still do.)

The other idea was to make a nice tee for summer. The Noro yarn, called Kakigori, is a mix of cotton and silk and some synthetic so it’s a nice summer fiber mix especially if it’s not knit too tightly. Then I found Brin:

and that was it. After weeks of wondering, this was the thing. Here it is:

I think it turned out well. Obviously, I changed my mind about the color (about 6 times.) The fabric is light because it’s a DK yarn knit at an aran gauge, and lace weight mohair at the hem adds a pretty touch without feeling all hairy in the summer heat.

There are other nice touches as well. A garter rib motif at the sleeve

and at the sides of the body

are fun to do and keep the knitting interesting. The yarn is typical Noro, with an artisan touch, a little thick and thin. One big 200-gram ball did it!

Our mystery shawl knit-along is progressing, with just one more set of clues to be revealed. I got a bit obsessed with the tee, so I haven’t finished the latest clue. Here’s where I am:
