I really have nothing to talk about right now but I may just rattle on for a while anyway, before I take my morning dive into the political news and podcasts that I’m addicted to. I’m not quite sure what I’ll do after the election is decided, because I’ve become a bit obsessed with it. I’m trying to listen to audio books and look at calming TV shows (not on commercial channels, though, ads are not calming right now) while I knit but as soon as a podcast is updated, I bite.

As for knitting, I tried to do something interesting after my garter stitch streak, but couldn’t really sustain anything so now I’m making this:

It’s called Red Box, by LiZknits on Ravelry. It’s miles of stockinette on size 4 needles with skinny little light fingering weight yarn. I’m using a heathery wool from my stash that’s like a Shetland (kind of rough)

but the fabric is so airy that I’ll be wearing something underneath it, so it can be a bit scratchy and no worries.

A small update on the state of the shop: At one time long ago, I applied for a small grant from the CARES Act program for Pennsylvania to make up for the money I personally put into paying for rent, utilities and spring yarn that had already shipped to me in March but hadn’t yet been paid for when we had to shut down. Had pretty well given up on it, but have learned that the program is still alive and my application has been “recommended for funding, which is no guarantee…” blah, blah, blah. So we’ll see what happens but we still have some hope that we’ll actually be able to get some new yarns in and have some new projects for your delectation!

A word about classes, too: I am getting a lot of questions about classes and would love to be able to schedule some. However, I have to be the adult and say no for right now. The virus is surging again, Berks’ cases are up (even though I think that’s mostly Kutztown University – but let’s face it, a lot of local kids go there and come home all the time). As of now, there will be no classes through the holidays, and we’ll be taking stock in December to see where we are.

To sum up, the store will stay open (unless mandated to close), we’ll keep trying to inspire you, and we’ll let everyone know when the happy day comes that we can safely get together for classes again!

Okay, now I’m ready for my daily dose of stomach-churning election news. Only 2 more weeks, thank goodness! Vote, everyone!
