Focus on Fall

I’m not ready for summer to be over yet. I think we’ve had a great summer and now there have been a few cool mornings, and I’m getting pretty excited about fall knitting. Karen and Deb and I have all gotten our classes pretty well sorted out so I know it’s going to be a wonderful schedule. And while you may be getting ready for school to start, or planning that end-of-summer vacation, it’s already my favorite time of year: New Yarn Season!

It starts with just a trickle. We received some amazing color gradients from Frabjous Fibers this week, which they call Blossoms. Easy to see why:

It’s superwash merino and nylon, machine-washable, hand-dyed in vibrant color combinations. I couldn’t choose, so I bought a color pack which contains 2 of every colorway, wound in opposite directions, like the ones above, so you can really see the colors in two different ways.

And you’ll remember this little shawl that I made from one ball. It shows how gentle the color transitions are, which I really love, and it’s wonderful to knit with:

Other pattern suggestions, just a few among many intriguing designs:

A simple top-down triangle using gradient plus a solid to beautiful effect:

A soft and beautiful cowl:

A sweet baby sweater (without changing colors and weaving in a bunch of ends):

There’s some more to show you, but I’ll just tempt you with this picture. I really must get to work on the classes!
