I’m so glad that we’ve avoided significant snow so far, because this has been a busy, busy time. Our classes are full, sales reps are knocking at the door with beautiful things for spring, and everything needs to be restocked; all of which means you’ve been busy, too, knitting your wonderful projects and keeping the store hopping. So thank you! You’re the reason we’re here!
Deb’s sock class has been learning the magic of turning heels and will be finishing toes soon. She’ll be teaching a beginner knitting class next weekend (Jan. 19th at 10 a.m.) Karen’s beginning brioche class all got a lovely taste of this fun technique making a squishy, snuggly cowl. Next up for brioche lovers is the Miter Might Not Cowl class starting on the 26th, and since some beautiful Dream in Color Classy came in, we’re been having fun putting combinations together. Karen made her cowl in two semi-solids, and I love it:
(Here it is with the other side dominant:)
but what if one were a hand-dyed multi? I have a hard time putting colors together for brioche because the trick is to get enough contrast between the two colorways so that you can see the pattern emerging, and let the brioche stitch do the blending. So I love how these two look together:
but they may be a bit too subtle to get the full effect of the brioche miters. Maybe something like this would be better:
or
or
I want someone to knit up all these combos and I’ll pick my favorite. Volunteers?
Karen also finished her Shift cowl (class starts in early March). It’s beautiful and looks like a Middle Eastern tapestry:
and is worn like this:
Such a pretty piece, and fun to make. The class of course is filling up! Find all of our class information here.
I wish I had more time this morning but the koodles have to go to the beauty salon soon. I hope next time I’ll be showing off some of your fabulous finished objects!
