…to writing a blog post is coming up with a title. Many posts have no theme, as you well know. A lot of them are just about stuff I knit, stuff you knit, stuff someone else knit that I would like to knit – well, I guess that’s a theme, but a fairly repetitive one. Today’s post will be mostly about stuff I knit because I’ve been knitting like crazy.
Someone asked to see the car coat on me, so I tried to take a decent picture:

I look tubby (and I wish I could say it’s the coat’s fault but it’s me) but the picture does show a lot of the features of the coat. All the edges are hemmed which gives a nicely finished look, the button band is in a slip-stitch rib which lends stability, and the pockets are deep and functional. The fabric is light and warm and soft which eliminates the need for seams to support a heavier fabric.

It’s a great project. I already have a full class that will start January 6, but if others are interested, I can schedule a second one to run parallel so let me know!
We received a nice supply of Lang’s Cashmere Light in several very pretty grays and a gorgeous red. I had to get my hands on it so I made this 2-ball infinity scarf in about 3 hours.

It’s the softest, lightest thing and it will definitely keep you warm. Of course, it can be made in one color if you prefer. The pattern is free, and I’ll have another one-ball cowl pattern for you in a couple of days. That lovely pile of fuzz at the bottom of the picture is a pair of Last-Minute Mittlets, another one-ball project.
I hope you saw the email about our Small Business Saturday sale – that’s a great time to pick up a ball or two of Cashmere Light to treat yourself (or someone you like a lot.) The first 10 people to spend over $100 will receive this Shop Small shopping/knitting/whatever bag:

Every year these bags get more adorable!
I also finished the Carbeth Cardigan that I was going on about a few weeks ago. It was quite fast to knit with doubled DK weight yarn even though I added 4 inches to the body length. The knitting is easy although the finishing is a bit tricky. I used a soft lofty alpaca blend (same as the car coat) for the inside of the doubled collar, because the wool is very woolly.

It’s tough with dark brown to see the raglan decreases that distinguish this cardi from other styles, so come in to check it out. It will (probably) have buttons by that time. The buttonholes are cleverly incorporated into the i-cord edging of the front band. Very nice pattern!
We’ll be open Wednesday, closed Thursday, then open Friday and Saturday our normal hours. Hope to see you for the sale on Saturday!
