How long have I been at this? Well, let’s not go there, let’s just say that in all that time, I still have not learned to stick to a budget when it comes to yarn. In my personal life I’m pretty disciplined but when it comes to yarn, I just gotta have the good stuff.
So, this week, instead of discussing small projects, I need to show you the beautiful yarn that has just come in, and is pretty much flying out of here by the bagful, which is good because I don’t have shelf space for one more thing!
Here is brand-new Gedifra Metal Tweed, a beautiful and dressy blend of alpaca, wool, cotton, and a smooch of different synthetics.

It’s soft and light, with fantastic yardage and a little sparkle. I’m envisioning a simple garment that would dress up a plain outfit for the holidays, either a cropped loose pullover
or
or a simple jacket or wrap.
or
or any number of pretty and quick cowls or shawls to make a special gift or an elegant accessory.
For sock knitters, we received Lana Mia One-4-Two, a pretty mottled yarn in three wearable colors that helps you make two identical socks:

So, I don’t think I actually got the concept when I knit these socks. I think the dark part was to be ribbing, the medium part was to be the leg to the heel, the next would be foot and there’s another shade that I didn’t even get to because I have small feet that might be meant to be the toe. The socks are great, soft and sturdy, but I would like them better with the colors arranged correctly. I might try again with the gray!
We also got some Regia Pairfect, another yarn that helps you make the perfect pair. It’s been running out of the shop as fast as sock knitters can grab it, so if you want to try it, don’t wait. These are two of the colors:

I love the very clear and helpful pictures on the label, plus there is a very good explanation of their plan on the inside of the label.
We also received our shipment of Felted Tweed from Rowan, and half of it went home with our classes this weekend! I assure you, though, that we have beautiful colors still in stock. Here’s what I made with it:

Mainstay is a good useful basic with excellent details, such as good-sized pockets, the ribbing at the sides and sleeves, and the split hem. It’s traditionally made (in pieces then seamed) so it’s somewhat easy to knit. The tricky part is the seaming, and that’s just mattress stitch, something every knitter should learn anyway.
I have more and more and more to show (new Della Q bags!) but really, I’m overwhelmed by all the possibilities for knitting. Come get inspired!!
