It’s funny that when a person lives alone, as I do (except for Jack and Purl of course), it’s a major event when someone comes to stay. For the last month or so, I’ve been taking a look at everything around my house and evaluating what it would look like or how it would function for someone else. I’ve also been gearing myself up for a couple trips to the Philadelphia Airport, a task that seemed very major to me, who usually just drives to the grocery store or the dog groomer. My guest was welcome, easy to please and is now gone, and I feel slightly more capable of facing traffic challenges and have gotten a bit more familiar with my car’s GPS system – all rather empowering!
I didn’t get much knitting done – I have a lot more empathy for those of you who don’t live alone; it’s difficult to concentrate on tricky projects when there’s someone else to consider and respond to – so I don’t have any new projects to show. While I get busy again, I’ll show you our customers’ projects instead!
First, I have to do a little bragging on our Yarn Gallery Afghan class. I’m so proud of everyone who took the class – it’s a challenging project! Here are a few finished versions – I just love them:
Anne Alderman – hiding behind her beautiful afghan:
Carol Pitts, also hiding, also a beautiful finished project:
Susan Heist, who lives in Las Vegas and (obviously) didn’t take the class, made this lovely afghan all on her own:
And Virginia Griffith’s wonderful project, all finished and waiting for Fin’s seal of approval (note the bushy tail of her Chief Project Inspector):
Virginia also made a couple of these adorable Clayoquot hats (free pattern from Tin Can Knits, newborn to adult sizes) for baby gifts:
Jodi Slootsky made an entrelac hat and got fascinated with the technique. She also made our Warm x2 Cowl, then combined both ideas for this beautiful lined cowl – so creative!
Janice Bieber made these cute and funky gifts for granddaughter Ashley:
and spent the winter making this gorgeous Jameson for herself:
Another lucky granddaughter got this beautiful and challenging drape-front sweater with a lace design on the back, made by Marilyn Denlinger:
Donna Hain made our Sarah’s Poncho in a gorgeous shade of green:
And she also made a beautiful version of Aileas, a class we gave this winter, and inspired other people in the class to add touches of color to their sweaters:
Jeanne Henry’s version, well-fitting and beautifully knitted:
And Janis Edwards’ lovely version:
Unbelievable work, everybody! Thanks for posing for pictures. I know it’s a pain, but really, they’re so inspirational!!
If you would like to experience what it’s like to take a class with us, there is a space left for Birkin, which starts this week, and a few spaces left for our small project classes, also starting soon. And don’t forget, if you know someone who wants to learn knitting, our beginner sessions are on Thursday evenings this session. See the details here!
