This time of year at the shop is so much fun, with new stuff arriving every week. And this time of year at the shop is so overwhelming, with new stuff demanding to be knit up into samples every week! And since I’m deep into a fascinating but rather slow sweater right now, the new yarns are just sitting on the shelves staring at me, wondering when I’m going to get to them. Stop! Stop staring at me!! I’m knitting as fast as I can!!
We received two new sport-weight wools this week, both hand-dyed, both superwash, yet very different. The first is Mad Hatter from Frabjous Fibers, a smooth, soft, plied yarn in lovely wearable semi-solid shades:
I can see wonderful sweaters from this yarn, and a few of my Ravelry favorites are in the running:
Yoke Detail Sweater by Debbie Bliss
Princess Fiona, also by Amy Miller
They’ve all been in my faves for a long time and I can’t make up my mind. Thank goodness I don’t have to, at least for a while.
The other beautiful yarn we received is Solea, a soft and silky singles, in striking colors from Island Yarn:
Perfect for accessories, especially scarves and shawls – you want to feel this against your neck! – by itself or combine with solids or semi-solids:
Scrappy Lengthwise Scarf by Zona Sherman
Canaletto Cowl by Megan Goodacre
Come see! Gotta go, this morning I’m looking at yarns for spring – can you believe it?
