So Much to Knit…

…so little time!

There’s something about that first nip in the air that gets the knitting juices flowing, right?  I knit all year, but sometimes it’s a bit of a slog to keep going on projects that I know must be done.  It can even be difficult to get excited about a new project, something that I usually can’t wait to do.  But when the air gets crisp and the mornings chilly, something clicks on in my brain and all of a sudden there are a dozen things I want to knit and I want to get started on all of them right now!  We received some wonderful yarns this week and every one of them has my hands itching to start swatching:

This is Ella Rae Chunky Merino Superwash in a dozen wonderful colors:

This yarn is 100% superwash merino.  It is smooth and supple, and knits beautifully at 3 stitches to the inch.  I tested the super-washability of it by throwing it into a machine with a load of jeans, and drying it with the jeans too.  It held up incredibly well, with no felting and very little pilling.  This is definitely sweater-worthy, and of course I had to get going on one!  This is the very beginning of Banner,

I’ve added a gray Inca Tweed at the top, which has a beige fleck to coordinate with this nice camel color.  It’s speeding along, I’m almost ready to pick up the first sleeve.

We received beautiful colors of Moonshine, one of our favorite worsted-weight yarns.  A soft and elegant blend of alpaca, merino and silk, this yarn is suitable for almost any worsted project that won’t require machine washing.

Fine Donegal from Debbie Bliss also hit our shelves.  This yarn makes me so happy!  95% wool, 5% cashmere to add a smooth surface feel, made in Ireland, absolutely beautiful tweeds,

and a flexible gauge that can go from fingering to a light DK.  It also combines beautifully with other lightweight yarns.  I’m dying to start swatching this with a couple of other lace-to-fingering weight yarns to see which combination I’ll use to make Trailhead from Brooklyn Tweed’s newest collection.

We also received some new color ways of Opal sock yarn.  Sorry, I didn’t get a photo, but I grabbed one to start some Brother-in-Law socks:

The wilder the better for my BIL!

So, yes, I started 2 projects this weeks, but also finished two.  I finished my niece’s cocoon, in two soft and pretty yarns held together, that I hope she’ll enjoy throughout her pregnancy and beyond:

And I finished the poncho that I’ve been obsessed with for months.  Fibre Company’s newest yarn, Cumbria, a wool and mohair blend, turned out to be the perfect yarn for it and I could finally make it into a reality:

I haven’t written out the pattern yet, but that’s okay because I can’t get the yarn until later in October anyway.  However, if you’d like to make it, I’m taking orders.  Look at this gorgeous palette:

I want to own every one of these rich, deep shades, and keep them all together for inspiration!!

Have a super-duper week!
